Thebault has designed "the first hydrogen-powered flying yacht in the world", which will become a reality in 2023. Behind the project is the Swiss startup Jet ZeroEmission, which has partnered with partners Zenith Marine and DWYN to develop a new ship without emissions. The "flying yacht" will be presented next year in Dubai and the first flight is expected to take place during the COP28 climate conference in November 2023 in the United Arab Emirates. An unconventional yacht called the Jet will have a futuristic, alien look and hydrogen fuel cells will power electric motors that will quietly power the yacht. These hydrogen fuel cells will generate electricity by mixing hydrogen and oxygen.
The yacht will be 10 meters long and will provide enough space for 13 people including the captain. What distinguishes this yacht from other superyachts on the market is that it will be able to "fly / swim" over the surface of the water. The yacht will be kept afloat thanks to the hydrophiles, which are actually wing-shaped edges placed under the deck and "cut" the water as the yacht accelerates, thus raising it. This function is very similar to the function of the wings of an airplane. These hydrophiles can lift the yacht up to 0.9 meters above the water, and in addition offer more comfortable sailing without resistance compared to standard yachts. The Jet Yacht will be equipped with automatic software that enables easy control of speed and altitude. The Swiss company claims that it will be able to reach a speed of 74 km / h.
