Hitchhiking the route Berlin – Amsterdam or vice versa is frequently used among hitchhikers. Probably because German and Dutch people hitchhike a lot and the chances that you’ll get a ride even if you are a foreigner is very good. But if you GoogleSearch about where to hitchhike from Berlin to Amsterdam you sure are going to find a lot of confusing autobahn map navigations which tend to exhaust us just by taking a look at it.
So, I am going to try and simplify it for you and anyone who is trying hitchhiking from Berlin to Amsterdam.
What do we know about this route?
We know that in theory this route takes about 6 hours and 12 minutes if you are driving yourself. But it is possible to hitchhike this route within 7 to 9 hours so we can say that it can be a one day trip, if you are lucky and are not hitchhiking on a holiday or you don’t get stuck on traffic jams between Braunschweig and Hannover.
What you need to know also is that, if possible avoid hitchhiking on weekends since, a lot of German and Dutch people use the weekends to go on trips with their family or move stuff so the cars can be full and even if they would want to stop and give you a ride, their cars would already be full.
Also, truck drives stay off the road on Sundays due to not being allowed to drive on that very day. So take notes!
Where do I start?

After arriving, your first choice of drives must be the ones going in the direction of A2 motorway or Ruhr Zone. Anyways, it is also possible to travel with people going south, because there is another service station called Michendrof Nord. From there, you can pick up a lot of drivers that are going at the A2 or A9 motorway. And, VIOLA!
*Also, pay attention to yellow car plates, they might be Dutch people, and this is a jackpot!
