HTC is already planning for a world in which people will spend an increasing amount of time in the metaverse, according to the company. Users should be able to live, play, have fun, and even work in virtual places if they wear goggles or helmets, and a team led by Mark Zuckerberg has been working on technology and software to make this possible for quite some time now. However, even if it is becoming increasingly popular, the metaverse is still in its early stages, with Zuckerberg himself stating that significant resources must be put in infrastructure and communication to enable such virtual worlds to exist.
As one of the companies preparing for this "meta future," HTC has been working on its own virtual reality gadgets, which it has marketed under the Vive brand, for several years. Currently, they are working on developing a "metaverse phone," which will be used to communicate with other universes. HTC's general manager for the Asia-Pacific area, Charles Huang, introduced the gadget and stated that he will present it the following month at a conference.
However, he did not provide any specifics about the phone itself, so for the time being, we can only conjecture about its features and capabilities. According to the Android Authority, we can expect a phone with powerful hardware and software that will allow us to access virtual and augmented reality environments. One of HTC's competitive advantages in this market is that the company has generated material for virtual reality over the years, which is now available on the company's VivePort portal.
HTC has also unveiled its own version of the metaverse, called Viverse, which offers features that are more or less comparable to those of Facebook's metaverse - a virtual world where users can "share experiences" with others, both personally and professionally. As a result, a place for socializing, gatherings, and the like, but in the digital world, complete with avatars and other virtual characters.
During the month of April, we will learn more about HTC's plans, and it will be interesting to see what sort of "meta choices" they have prepared for their upcoming smartphone. Given how closely HTC has attached everything related to virtual reality to the Vive brand, it's possible that the smartphone may be dubbed VivePhone or something like.
