Some Twitter users create secondary profiles to distinguish between personal and professional conversation. The possibility of publishing private tweets from the same profile on this social network that are not available to everyone, but are only visible to selected individuals - such as family and closest friends - suggests that such a thing will not be necessary in the future.

This possibility was proposed on Twitter last year under the name "Trusted Friends," but we have not yet received any official information regarding when the option of trusted friends would become available. The developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who discovered the material on Twitter, was responsible for some of the information being made public this week. According to him, this feature is still in the early stages of development, but Twitter is currently working on it under a different moniker - Flock.

Using Flock, Twitter users will be able to establish a special list of people to add from the overall list of followers on their profile, with the maximum number of people with whom they can speak individually expected to be approximately 150. Of course, until the official presentation, that figure can fluctuate between higher and lower numbers. When this option is enabled, a Twitter user will be able to submit status updates, images, and videos that will only be viewable to others who are also on the Flock list. These can be, for example, close friends and, as previously stated, trusted individuals; but, by doing so, some additional or unique content intended solely for the most ardent fans may be made available.

According to the company, Flock is inspired by the Close Friends feature on Instagram, which allows chosen postings from that social network to be exposed only to a small circle of users rather than to everyone.
