Jeff Bezos' new yacht is so big that it will dismantle the historic bridge in Rotterdam

As an obstacle on the way to the shipyard to the open sea of Jeff Bezos's yacht, there is only one little thing - the big historic bridge in Rotterdam.

In Croatia, memes “Croatian tragedies” are popular with “tragic” comments on situations when, for example, a holiday falls on a weekend and there is no merging of vacations. If such a meme were applied to Jeff Bezos and his current problem, he might say - my yacht is so big it can’t pass under the bridge. Namely, Bezos is currently in such a situation that his yacht is too big to pass under the bridge in Rotterdam.

But for a man weighing more than $ 170 billion, that’s not a problem. Namely, when the time comes for the yacht to pass under the bridge, that bridge will be dismantled. Once the yacht has passed, the bridge will be reassembled and the bill will be delivered to Bezos.

Bezos' yacht is currently being built at a shipyard in the Dutch city of Alblasserdam, and when completed on its way to the open sea, Rotterdam's bridges will stand, of which the Koningshaven bridge is problematic. It is a bridge built almost a hundred years ago that has great historical value and is now a national monument. After being renovated over the past decade, city officials then announced that the bridge would never be dismantled again. Until Bezos and he got involved in the story of a yacht almost 130 meters long with three masts that are too high to pass under the bridge. As a reason why they agreed to that, they mentioned the economic interest from the city because a large number of people are employed on the construction of the ship. Also, it is the only possible exit of Bezos' yacht to the sea.

The process of dismantling the central part of the bridge should take several weeks and we can expect it during the summer.
