Virgin Galactic, the company controlled by billionaire Richard Branson, announced on Tuesday that it will begin selling tickets for commercial space flights in the coming months.
Beginning tomorrow, Feb. 16, tickets will be available for purchase for $ 450,000, which includes a $ 150,000 deposit, plus applicable fees.
Virgin Galactic CEO Michael Colglazier stated that the company plans to give flights for the first 1,000 customers as soon as the company begins offering the service in a few months.
The stock value of the corporation increased by more than 10% as a result of the announcement.
Since the business announced in October that it would postpone commercial spaceflight missions for the remainder of this year, the stock's value has dropped by 66 percent.
Space flight reservations include membership in the Community of Future Astronauts, which will allow members to participate in events, travel, and preparations for space travel. Members will also have access to the Community of Future Astronauts website.
A few of the firms attempting to start space tourism are SpaceX, which is led by Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin, which is led by Jeff Bezos.
