The anti-abuse feature on Twitter has finally arrived.

When security protection is enabled, Twitter's algorithm prevents users from assaulting and insulting others on the platform.

Twitter, like all other social networks, is often criticized for failing to prevent abuse and protect its users from being attacked, insulted, ridiculed and the like. There are different ways companies are trying to combat such abuse , and Twitter began testing an option called Safe Mode last year.

Since September, a small number of users have had access to security mode, and they said this week that it will expand its availability to more users and markets. For starters, these are English-speaking countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and so on), and based on user feedback, they will be able to strengthen this choice and better safeguard people who are targeted by the virtual community.

One of the new features of Safety Mode is that it will alert users when it is time to activate the protective mechanism in the future. Users whose accounts are automatically blocked for a week after responding to tweets with unacceptable vocabulary - insults, promoting hatred, etc. - get their accounts activated. Users whose accounts are blocked will no longer be able to follow the user's profile, will not be able to see the answers to that tweet, and, of course, will not be able to send messages to the user while security mode is active.

The advantage of this type of protection is that users will no longer have to manually ban each account separately, but will leave it to Twitter, or its algorithm. This algorithm will investigate not only the words used in tweets and responses to tweets, but also the relationship of users who communicate. Twitter will not block those who frequently communicate and respond to each other's tweets, even if they use improper language.

At this moment, it is unknown when this option will be available worldwide.
