In order to give drivers with a reliable and environmentally friendly automobile, there is a "important potential for manufacturers to improve their products."

According to a new British study, new electric automobiles are less reliable and more prone to have a problem than their gasoline and diesel counterparts.

According to a research conducted by the British consumer organisation "Which?", 31 percent of electric car owners experienced an issue with their vehicle during the first four years of ownership.

In comparison, just 19 percent of gasoline-powered cars and 29 percent of diesel-powered cars achieve this.

Defective electric vehicles (EVs) were taken off the road for an average of five days, compared to only three and four days for defective petrol and diesel vehicles, respectively.

Because electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than cars that run on traditional gasoline, according to research, they are more reliable than automobiles that run on traditional fuel.

Generally speaking, electric vehicles are more expensive than conventional automobiles, owing to the high cost of their batteries.

The most frequently reported failures by drivers of electrical models were software-related issues, rather than motor or battery-related issues.

According to data from the British Car Manufacturers and Dealers Association, a plug-in vehicle was registered for every sixth new vehicle registered in the United Kingdom last year.

According to Lisa Barber, editor of home products and services at "Which?" magazine, while we are aware that drivers are interested in switching to more environmentally friendly automobiles, it is critical to obtain a high-quality product.

"There is a great opportunity for manufacturers to improve goods and give drivers with a more reliable and environmentally friendly automobile," she stated.

According to her, "Especially with electric vehicles, our research has shown that a high price does not necessarily imply a high-quality vehicle, so we would always encourage drivers to conduct extensive research before making such a significant purchase to determine which cars and brands they can trust." She went on to say that

It has been discovered that complete hybrids, which feature a battery that can only be charged by a combustion engine, are the most dependable automobiles, independent of the type of fuel used in their production.

More than 48,000 people took part in the consumer group's study "Which?" and supplied information on roughly 57,000 automobiles, including 2,184 electric vehicles, according to the results.
